(Ph.D. Candidate)
I received my B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders (2005) and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology (2007) from James Madison University. From 2007- 2009, I worked in New York City as a speech-language pathologist for Strivright/The Auditory Oral School of New York providing auditory rehabilitation as well as speech/language therapy to children ages 0-5 with hearing impairment. While in NYC, I also enrolled in the Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences Ph.D. program at the CUNY Graduate Center. I was a recipient of a Science Fellowship and worked in the Developmental Language Laboratory.
Starting Fall 2010, I relocated to Madison to complete my Ph.D. in the Binaural Hearing and Speech Laboratory with Dr. Ruth Litovsky. I am interested in researching speech perception/ production and language development in children and toddlers with bilateral cochlear implants. Specifically, I am interested in learning more about children’s abilities to tell the difference (discriminate) between speech sounds in their native language.
