Here we demonstrate a hearing test that we use to assess how well children understand speech in the presence of competing speech. In this example, we have a male voice speaking the “target” words, such as “bedroom” or “airplane”. The first examples you see occur in quiet. Then, a female voice is added, and the child must ignore the female in order to hear what the male is saying. The child responds by clicking on the picture that matches what s/he hears. See what happens when either the correct or incorrect pictures are chosen.
