My professional career has been in direct services to people with disabilities for over 25 years. My main responsibilities have been employer contact and job placement of persons with disabilities. My personal commitment is for full-inclusion of children and adults with disabilities in their schools, communities, and places of employment. In August 2005, I made a significant change and I am now serving in a capacity that is apart from direct service. My new career with the infrastructure grant is targeted at effecting systemic change that will offer more opportunities for employment of persons with disabilities. I am finding it most exciting and challenging. The Medicare Infrastructure Grant is through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services in Baltimore, Maryland. This grant offers opportunities to several states to make changes and sustain efforts that will improve the employment of individuals with disabilities. The work being done is consistent with the mission and vision of Wasiman Center UCEDD and joint efforts have been effective in creating change and inspiring agencies who serve children and persons with disabilities.
