Usage Fees: No charge to use the Speed Vac
About the Speed Vac:
A speed vac for spinning microfuge tubes is available to all trained users. Please reserve a slot ahead of time using the google calendar and sign in at the instrument before and after your run. Please provide your own dry ice and Methanol for the cold trap. If your experiments extends beyond 6 hours please contact the cmn core.
ALL USERS MUST CHECK THE SYSTEM BEFORE LEAVING THE BUILDING (or every 3 hours).
About the Ultra Centrifuge
This ultracentrifuge can achieve 70,000 rpm, with centrifugation forces of up to 504,000g. Speed control accuracy is +/- 20 rpm of set point. And the microprocessor based design permits the Efficient Sedimentation Program to avoid heavy salt precipitation. We have two rotors for this ultracentrifuge (SW-28 and SW41, both stored in room 644).
