67. We All Belong: Multicultural Child
Care that Works (1993)

This video beautifully illustrates how to integrate the daily
cultural lives of children into an early childhood setting. The
video highlights the principles underlying culturally responsive
environments, and demonstrates these principles in action at
a child care center in Australia. Respect for diversity is embedded
into these program aspects-staff, parent-staff relationships,
curriculum and physical environment.

These 3 videos are about inclusion of young children with special
needs, birth through five years of age, in community child care
programs. The overview video (12 minutes) presents the legal,
social and educational rationale for inclusion. The provider
version (20 minutes) of Can I Play Too? introduces the viewer
to Tommy, a young boy with cerebral palsy, his parents and the
people who provide services to Tommy in day care. In the parent
version (20 minutes), several parents, including Tommy's, share
their experiences and feelings about inclusion. The 3 videos
have been designed to raise awareness about inclusion issues
and have been used effectively for inservice and preservice training.

This videotape explains and shows essential aspects of exemplary
early childhood programs, including practices that are culturally
competent and address special needs. The program tells the story
of what the Service Delivery Project Team found after surveying
child care programs in Ohio and across the U.S. Methodology used
to determine best practice is also described.

and Toddlers with Disabilities in Family Child Care (1995)

In this video, family child care providers discuss their experiences
caring for children with special needs. They discuss the fears
and concerns they had about running an inclusive child care program,
and the techniques they used to make their programs successful.
Parents of children with special needs talk about the difficulty
they have finding suitable family child care. The video also
outlines relevant pieces of the Americans with Disabilities Act
and Part H of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

Hard of Hearing, and Hearing Preschoolers (1992)

This three part video, and accompanying manual, is designed to
provide information to early childhood educators and administrators
who are considering the creation of an integrated program in
their school or day care center. The first section covers basic
information on deafness. The second section discusses interagency
collaboration. The final section discusses inclusion and adaptation
within the program. Specific modifications needed to make a regular
classroom accessible to children who are deaf or hard of hearing
are detailed. This video is opened-captioned.

Educational Partnerships for Young Children (1995)

This videotape highlights the Lowes Creek Early Learning Center
in Eau Claire and the innovative programming occurring at the
Center to promote inclusive early education. The program has
been successful because of community collaboration, parent involvement
and team teaching efforts. The video also shows strategies for
supporting children with special needs in other natural settings
such as childcare and kindergarten.

study course on family day care. There are 10 videos in the series
which includes a course guide on Providing High-Quality Family
