76. Interdisciplinary Teamwork: A Team
in Name Only/Becoming an Effective Team (1993)
Running Time: 22 minutes
This two-part video emphasizes the effects of team process on
the recipients of team service, young children with disabilities
and their families. Both segments provide the opportunity to
see a team in action, first not functioning effectively and then
learning to do things better. In A Team In Name Only,
members of the team express their personal perspectives regarding
the team's problems and what is needed. In Becoming An
Effective Team, the team members describe changes in
team functioning and how the changes were achieved. The video
and training guide were designed to facilitate discussion and
analysis of both positive and problematic team processes. Developed
as a training resource for professionals, parents and students.

77. A Child First: Families as a Guide
for Respite Providers (1995)

Running Time: 10 minutes
This video is designed for people who provide respite care to
children with disabilities. The video's narrators, all parents
of children with disabilities, give advice to would-be respite
providers on conducting a successful interview, starting the
job, interacting with the child, and interacting with the family
as a whole. The narrators encourage future providers to be flexible
in their perceptions of children with disabilities.

78. Preparing Paraprofessional Early Interventionists:
Infant Parent Interaction Activities (1993)

Running Time: 37 minutes
This video and accompanying training guide are excellent resources
for helping prepare paraprofessionals who are part of early intervention
teams. The materials focus knowledge and skill building to support
paraprofessionals in extending professional early interventionists'
roles and to assist with implementing IFSPs. The video and guide
can be used: to support individual paraprofessionals on the job;
to assist supervisors with defining jobs, hiring and monitoring
paraprofessional personnel; and for inservice and preservice
training. The materials are applicable in any early intervention
setting and recognize that responsibilities will vary with settings.

This brief yet highly inspirational video is recommended for
anyone who supports a person with a disability or works in the
social service field. Set to powerful music, the video encourages
its viewers to examine their attitudes toward and perceptions
of disability, professionalism, and support. It is designed for
use in staff training, inservice, presentations, and orientation
programs.

This inspirational video gives suggestions on "how to live
a happy and rewarding life", adapting phrases from the book
Life's Little Instruction Book, by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
This is a great video to spark discussion among parents and service
providers about priorities and values.
