Title: Can Human Infants Cope with Auditory Uncertainty?
Speaker: Lynne A.
Werner PhD
University of Washington
Where: Waisman
Conference Center
Room T216, Second Floor, North Tower
About the Talk:
Adults efficiently identify familiar complex sounds, because they focus on the
most informative parts of the sound. Infants are inefficient listeners.
One explanation for infants' inefficient listening is that they are unable to
focus on informative parts of sounds. Another explanation is that infants are
uncertain about which parts of sounds are informative. The results of studies
addressing this issue will be discussed in the talk.
