3D Hearing Test!
Plug in some headphones, click on each of the ears below, and listen to a 3D sound through somebody else's ears.
You must use headphones to get the 3D effect.
What exactly am I hearing? This is an example of how the shape of different people's ears affects the way we perceive sound. As we grow up, our brain becomes tuned to the way the ear's shape modifies the sound waves we hear. If you were to hear a sound through somebody else's ears, it would sound like it was out of place. That's exactly what this demonstration did.
To listen through other peoples ears, we use a method of very carefully measuring the acoustical response of a person's ear. We then take a recorded sound and digitally process it with that person's ear responses. You can hear the results.
So what does this mean? It means you should really listen to the world through the ears you were born with.
Tell us what you heard.
