David Gamm, MD, PhD, receives named
professorship

Waisman Center researcher
David Gamm, MD, PhD has been named the
first recipient of the Edwin and Dorothy Gamewell Professorship. The
professorship was presented to the University of Wisconsin Eye Research
Institute by the Retina Research Foundation of Houston, Texas. The
professorship is awarded annually to an outstanding member of the Eye
Institute.
Gamm is an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual
Science. This year's professorship will support his work on regenerating
specialized light-sensing neurons called photoreceptors, the loss of which
can cause blindness. Gamm is part of the Waisman Center's
Stem Cell Research Program
