Study by Maureen Durkin, PhD, finds autism in kids more prevalent among wealthier parents

An article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal Online featured findings published in a recent paper by Maureen Durkin, PhD, DrPH, titled "Socioeconomic Inequality in the Prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder: Evidence from a U.S. Cross-Sectional Study." The study reported that further research is needed to confirm and understand the sources of this disparity so that policy implications can be drawn. Durkin is a professor in the Departments of Population Health Sciences and Pediatrics, and a Waisman Center investigator.
