Downloading and Installing Pepper Fonts
To install fonts on Windows XP, NT or 2000 you need to be logged into
an administrative account. If you don't know whether or not your
account is an administrative account, try it and see if it works.
- For some Windows versions and certainly for Vista,
you need to be logged in as an administrator.
- To download, right click on the following link:
The Pepper True Type font files
- Select "Save Target As..." (or "Save Link As...") from the pop-up menu.

- Select where you want this file stored (the Desktop is OK) and
click the Save button.

- Click the close button if the download display does not
automatically close.
- Find and the program you just downloaded. You may need to close or
shrink some windows so you can see the desktop behind the windows.
You may need to right click on the desktop and select Refresh.

- Run it by double clicking on it.

- Vista users: see Vista instructions below.
Change "Unzip to folder" to C:\WINNT\Fonts .
Click the Unzip button.
If that doesn't work, try C:\Windows\Fonts .

If this message does not appear, then you can't install the fonts
because you're not using an administrative account. You'll have to
find someone with an administrative login to add the fonts for you.
- Click the OK button.
- And then click the Close button.
- Right click on pepfont.exe.
- Choose Delete from the pop-up menu.

- Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
- Select Start -> Settings -> Control Panel or Start -> Control Panel.

- Double click on the Fonts icon.

- Confirm that the PEPPER fonts are present.
The font names are "PEPPER Proportional" and "PEPPER sans Diacritics".
The second is the PEPPER font without diacritics. "sans" is French for "without".
In Microsoft Word, the font names are shown using the font.
This is bad news for PEPPER Proportional, since capital letters
are used for diacritics. It shows up in the font list as
. Because the font needs extra
space above the characters for possible diacritics, only the
top half of the letters are shown.
For PEPPER sans Diacritics, things are a little better since
being without diacrictics, the capital letters are treated the same
as lower case letters. It comes out as
.
The fonts are listed in alphabetical order so you should find
them amoung the other fonts that start with "P".

Vista Instructions
- Log in as an administrator.
- Instead of trying to unzip the files directly into the Fonts
folder, unzip them to someplace where you can find them.
The desktop would be OK.
- Open the fonts folder. You can either go to C:\Windows\Fonts
or Start > Control Panels > Fonts.
- Right click on the A at the lower left and select
"Install new font" on the pop-up menu.
- Locate the 4 pepper font files in the resulting dialog.
The desktop is at C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop.
- Click "Select All" and then "Install".
- The new fonts do not appear until you close and reopen the
Fonts folder.
- Delete the font files and pepfont.exe from your desktop.
Questions and Answers
I'm having trouble downloading the PEPPER font to my computer and
wondered if you could help. I've gotten administrative privileges
on my computer, followed the directions as specified, but when I
look in the "fonts" file under control panel, I can't find PEPPER.
Select "My Computer" on the Start menu. Open the C: drive.
Click the "Search" icon at the top. Select "All files and
folders". For "All or part of the file name" put in: pep*.ttf
Click Search. This will tell you where the files ended up.
Where they belong is in your C:\Windows\Fonts directory.
I'm having difficulty figuring out how to move the PEPPER fonts so
I can use them in Word, Power Point, etc. Any suggestions?
Select Start -> Control Panel. Double click on "Fonts". On
the File menu, select "Install New Font...". In the Folders window
within the Add Fonts dialog, double click on c:\. Then double
click on the other folders leading to the place where the
pep*.ttf files are currently stored. The names of the four
PEPPER fonts should appear in the "List of fonts" window.
Click the "Select All" button and then the OK button.
