The Phonology Project currently has funded positions available for persons interested in research in child speech sound disorders, including postdoctoral research and visiting scientist positions. Flexible arrangements allow interested researchers to use our diverse databases and analysis tools to study the origin, assessment, and treatment of child speech sound disorders.
Some current Phonology Project studies include research on:
the etiological origins of child speech sound disorders
speech processes associated with the short-term and long-term normalization of child speech sound disorders
computer-assisted assessment of speech sound disorders
etiological-based treatment of speech sound disorders using a two-factor treatment framework
Some current research populations in Madison and with collaborators include participants with:
idiosyncratic speech sound disorder
speech sound disorder secondary to neurologic disorder
speech sound disorder secondary to neurodevelopmental disorder (autism, chromosomal translocations,
Down syndrome, epilepsy, Fragile X syndrome, galactosemia, velocardiofacial syndrome).
Collaborative arrangements can be made with other researchers at the Waisman Center and the Department of Communicative Disorders, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and with coinvestigators on multisite projects in process at several other universities and hospitals nationally.
