Stars
Young Preschoolers ( approximately 34 - 40 months )
Children in the Star room are moving away from the toddler years and entering a period of development in which they are able to apply their newly developing skills in managing their own emotions and behavior, communicating, thinking and problem solving in a more complex social setting. The daily program includes opportunities for children to play together in large and small group activities, and in planned classroom learning centers.
Objectives in the Star room are:
- To facilitate children's development through experiences that involve discovery, experimentation and problem-solving.
- To support children in using their maturing social skills so that they are able to play interactively with peers.
- To increase children's knowledge and understanding of the world outside themselves, including taking others' perspectives, as well as expanding their concepts about the community in which they live.
