Our Products & Publications

Located on the first floor of the Waisman Center, the Waisman Resource Center (WRC) provides free and confidential information and assistance in identifying and accessing resources for children, youth and adults with disabilities and/or special health care needs, their families and the professionals within their community. Families visiting the Waisman Resource Center can learn more about services, resources, organizations and information specific to their questions and concerns.

The WRC houses the Southern Regional Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs Program, part of a statewide network of centers promoting health and access to care for children and youth with special health care needs. Children with Special Health Care Needs Logo

Waisman Resource Center Staff
Assist Families by:

  • Identifying resources and supports about such issues as: diagnostic specific information, home care, emotional supports, sibling support, community supports, public education, recreation programs, youth initiatives, transition to adulthood and more
  • Problem-solving with families based on their questions
  • Providing consultation about health insurance and coverage
  • Connecting families and providers with a variety of family supports, list serves, newsletters
    and training opportunities
  • Assisting with medical home quality improvement activities

Assist Waisman Programs and Projects by:

  • Highlighting and encouraging participation in current research, programs and projects
  • Being available to meet with families who are receiving services
  • Providing resources to share with families
  • Providing training to faculty and staff who desire information about disability-related community resources
  • Facilitating dissemination of information in selected content areas that corresponds to the work of Waisman Center investigators and staff who have incorporated an outreach dimension into their work
    Examples of current content areas are:

- Autism
- Early Childhood
- Medical Home
- Youth Transition
- Challenging Behavior
