- Genetic Link To Spina Bifida Discovered - December 17, 2007
Researchers at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston have discovered an association between genes regulating glucose metabolism and spina bifida. The decade-long study looked at more than 1,500 DNA samples from parents and their children with that birth defect.

Tengion, Inc., a leader in regenerative medicine, announced it has initiated a Phase 2 multi-center clinical trial of its neo-bladder construct, derived from a patient's own cells. The U.S.-based study is being conducted in 10 adult patients with neurogenic bladder due to spinal cord injuries. Neurogenic bladder is a condition that can occur due to spinal cord injury and may lead to kidney failure and incontinence, even when patients receive optimal medical treatment.

- Tengion Launches First Phase II Clinical Trial Of Regenerated Bladder - Jan 7, 2007
Tengion, Inc., announced today it has initiated a Phase II multi-center clinical study for its urinary neo- bladder construct. The study is being conducted in pediatric patients with spina bifida who have failing bladders that predispose them to a risk of kidney failure and incontinence even when they receive optimal medical therapy.
