Mitch walking - well, almost.
We were told the night Mitch was born that he would never walk. Not even with long leg braces and crutches.  His lesion - the opening in his spinal cord - was too high and too large.  When he was about 2 years old, I heard about a device that people in England were using called a Para podium.  I found a similar product in the US called the Orlau Swivel Walker.  The user leans to one side, and the opposite side swings (swivels) forward.  Although he could never go more than a few feet in it, it allowed him to be up on his legs "banging around" as his ortho used to say, which was critical for strong bones.
