Schedule & Program
9:00–9:05 am | Welcome Melissas Villegas, MD, Clinic Director, Waisman Center Cerebral Palsy Clinic |
9:05–9:40 am | “Advancing Research in Cerebral Palsy: Real Feedback from Real Participants and Their Families” |
Bernadette Gillick, PhD, MSPT, Associate Professor, Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation Medicine
Bernadette Gillick is both a neuroscientist and a pediatric physical therapist who studies ways to understand how the brain of a child both develops and recovers after early injury and diagnosis of cerebral palsy. Using a form of non-surgical brain stimulation with cutting-edge rehabilitation her team has discovered new frontiers in improving movement function. Importantly, her research studies are built from feedback directly from the people with whom her team works- the children themselves and their families. This talk will share both the promising outcomes from her studies, and the valuable lessons learned from her participant teams.
