Flu Shot Clinic

Bring your health insurance card.

If you have Anthem-Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Dean Care, Group Health Cooperative, Humana, Physicians Plus, WPS, Quartz, United Healthcare, or Unity, payment will be processed directly to your health insurance provider. Otherwise, there will be a $35 fee for the shot (payable by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard).

UW-Madison supports the CDC recommendation that individuals older than six months receive an annual flu shot. The vaccine protects against three strains of influenza: seasonal flu B as well as H1N1 and H3N2.

No appointment is needed however the employee flu shot clinics are not available for spouses/partners or children.

ASK YOUR DOCTOR IF A FLU SHOT IS RIGHT FOR YOU
There are some individuals who should consult a physician before being vaccinated. These include:

  • People who have a severe allergy to chicken eggs.
  • People who have had a severe reaction to an influenza vaccination in the past.
  • People who developed Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) within six weeks of getting an influenza vaccine in the past.
  • People who have a moderate or severe illness with a fever should wait to be vaccinated until their symptoms lessen.

Seasonal flu vaccine is particularly recommended for those over 50, those who have chronic medical conditions and those who are pregnant or who care for small children or who live with people who are at risk for developing complications. It is also advised for anyone who wants to reduce their chance of contracting or spreading seasonal influenza.
