W. Jerome Frautschi
W. Jerome Frautschi was born in Madison, Wisconsin. He received a BS in 1956 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-54. He was employed at Webcrafters, Inc. from 1956 to 1996 when he retired as vice chairman of the board. Upon retirement he established the W. Jerome Frautschi Foundation of which he is the chairman. The foundation underwrote the cost of building a cultural arts district in downtown Madison. He is trustee of a number of foundations and non-profit boards, including the Evjue Foundation, Inc., University of Wisconsin Foundation, Letters & Science Board of Visitors, and Fountain Valley School of Colorado. Frautschi has served as a civic leader in many capacities, including campaign director and president of the United Way of Dane County, a member of the Board of Governors of the Madison Community Foundation, and a member of the Monona Terrace Planning Commission. He has three sons and lives with his wife Pleasant in Middleton, Wisconsin.
