Profile

About the Speaker: Haley Dresang, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She is a PI at the Waisman Center, where she directs the NeuroLAND Lab, investigating the neuroscience of language and acquired neurological disorders that affect communication. She earned her B.S. from UW–Madison and her Ph.D. in communication science and disorders from the University of Pittsburgh, specializing in neuroscience through Carnegie Mellon University’s Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in translational neurorehabilitation at the University of Pennsylvania Department of Neurology. Her research aims to identify biomarkers of neuroplasticity that predict aphasia phenotypes and recovery after stroke. Her lab combines behavioral, neuroimaging, and AI-driven methods to develop precision tools for assessment and treatment planning in acquired communication disorders. Additional work examines compensatory adaptations in spared networks and the impact of non-invasive brain stimulation on language recovery.
