Waisman Center Autism Treatment Programs in Partnership with UW Health:
- Our interdisciplinary treatment team provides focused behavioral treatment for children, teens, and young adults with an autism diagnosis. All families participate in parent coaching sessions with their child, teen or young adult family member.
- The ATP treatment team partners with families for education, coaching and practice to support the development of lifelong skills. Parent coaching focuses on parents learning strategies to teach alternatives to interfering behaviors that present barriers to participation in daily activities; and strategies to support positive family interactions.
- The ATP treatment program model is founded on the principles and strategies of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a science based, systematic approach to behavior change and skill development.
- The ATP team includes licensed psychologists, licensed behavior analysts, a licensed marriage and family therapist, and a licensed clinical social worker. The licensed providers have additional specialized certifications related to human development and naturalistic treatment approaches. Bachelor’s level treatment specialists provide direct services.
- Treatment sessions are offered Monday through Thursday at the Waisman Center. Sessions are offered onsite and via telehealth sessions.
- Three session times are available Monday – Thursday: 8:30AM-10:00AM; 11:00AM – 12:30PM; 2:00PM-3:30PM
- Families typically commit to 1-2 years of focused treatment. Parents may call (608) 890-3622 or email MSchlueter@UWHealth.org to participate in a short interview and/or complete an initial intake packet prior to joining the waiting list.
- The ATP team also provides graduate level training and translational research as a model program of the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.
