About the Speaker: Sandesh Nagamani, MBBS, MD, is a Professor and Vice Chair for Research-Clinical in Molecular and Human Genetics at the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). His research is focused on translational medicine, specifically, evaluating novel potential therapies for various genetic disorders. The main focus of his research program is clinical investigation including conducting natural history studies, proof-of-concept pilot studies, and interventional clinical trials in patients with inborn errors of metabolism and genetic skeletal disorders.

Dr. Nagamani serves as a Co-Principal Investigator for the NIH Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network’s (RDCRN’s) Urea Cycle Disorders Consortium (UCDC), an international consortium comprising 16 sites in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. He is also a lead investigator of the NIH Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network’s Brittle Bone Disorders Consortium. He has contributed significantly to the natural history studies of osteogenesis imperfecta, the most common osteodysplasis in humans. He is also the Director of the BCM Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC).
