Building a brighter future for autistic adults that expands care throughout the lifespan.
Autism is a lifelong condition, yet most services and supports end when individuals reach adulthood. According to the CDC, 1 in 36 children are diagnosed with autism—and those children grow up. Research predicts that the number of adults with autism will double in the next decade, making this an urgent issue. Adults on the autism spectrum face a significant and well-documented gap in services as resources and supports often decline sharply at adulthood. Yet the need for structured, evidence-based support does not disappear with age. In many areas, it grows. Model Services for Adults with Autism fills this gap by offering a coordinated, interdisciplinary approach that helps autistic adults build autonomy, improve quality of life, and access care that respects their strengths and goals. We aim to integrate research for adults and their families with highly-needed program services and real-time training.

We need your help. The Waisman Center needs to raise $500,000 to establish Model Services for Adults with Autism. Our vision for this program includes essential life-skills training, therapy, and community supports, fueled by cutting-edge research and expert training. With your help, we can transform services for autistic adults across Wisconsin and beyond.

Join us and gather your friends and family for an at-home benefit on Saturday, April 25.
