Paul White, director of Community Ties at the Waisman Center, has developed a new training video and guide entitled “Managing Threatening Confrontations.” The curriculum is intended for frontline staff in the fields of developmental disabilities and mental illness who deal with potentially explosive situations.
Years of experience working with people who exhibit challenging behaviors helped White create a five-stage framework for professionals to manage threatening confrontations. White works directly with families, individuals, and care providers in Community Ties, which provides case management and community training related to individuals with challenging behavior. Community Ties is part of the Waisman Center’s University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD).
The video training program is available from the Attainment Company. Additionally, Paul is presents on the topic of challenging behaviors in individuals with developmental disabilities. See the UCEDD’s Community Training Calendar for more information.
