Title: Psychiatric Symptoms and Alzheimer’s Disease in People with Down syndrome

Legend: Mean physical and behavioral depressive symptoms on the Reiss Screen of Maladaptive Behavior (RSMB) across four data collection cycles in sample of 262 adults with Down syndrome. Blue line is for those with low PET amyloid and green line for those with elevated PET amyloid. Psychiatric symptoms are an important part of the clinical expression of Down syndrome Alzheimer’s Disease. Increases in depression coincide with elevated brain amyloid burden and may indicate mild cognitive decline. Broader increases in psychiatric symptoms are observed as adults with Down syndrome progressed from early to late-stage dementia.
