GLEAM Study (Gaze-based Language Evaluation and Access in Motor Disability) (Hustad)

Help us learn about how well eye gaze methods work to measure word knowledge in children who have severe motor and communication difficulties. We are also looking at whether children are able to learn language and then demonstrate their knowledge via eye gaze.  We are recruiting children who: 1.) are between 3 and 7 years of age who have cerebral palsy or another severe motor impairment; 2.) have severe speech and motor limitations; 3.) come from a home where English is the primary language.  The study will involve 1-2 visits to the Waisman Center where children will participate in speech and language assessments, and in passive eye gaze tasks.  Our team of speech language pathologists has extensive expertise in working with children with severe disabilities.  All activities are child centered. An honorarium for time and travel will be provided.
